Pat Douglas

And here we are with another Illustrious Peep interview with the indomitable Pat Douglas!

How is the author life treating you?

Busy. I am currently halfway through a contracted novel with Permuted Press. It is my first ever co-write. It is a challenge to say the least. I am also working on two novellas. One of them is splatterpunk and the other is bizarro. Aside from this I am swamped running a small bizarro publishing company – Bizarro Pulp Press. Is short, authoring is nuts!

How long have you been writing?

I have been writing books for a few years. Before that I toured full time as a singer/songwriter. I did that for about 5 years nationally full time. Once traveling lost its flare, the wife and I settled down and I picked up book writing to replace music. It has been quite an adventure.

Is the horror genre a passion for you?

It is. I grew up loving the B-movie horror flicks from the 80’s. You can’t go wrong with stuff like Killer Clowns, Chucky, and Howard the Duck.

What advice do you have for up and coming writers?

When at first you don’t succeed, rewrite, and try again.

Where would you like to see your career as a writer go?

Toward short film and comics.

You asked me to ask you about Tucker the Raccoon. Tell me everything, you know you want to.

Tucker the Raccoon is a new character I am working on. I have a few short comic strips posted on my site. I am going to be releasing several bizarro novellas featuring him. I am also in the works on an actual comic book series for him. I owe this character and my drive to move into comic books to none other than Steve Gerber. That dude was awesome!

The apocalypse is here. What skill do you have, or do you wish you had, to help you survive the end of the world as we know it?

I am a welder/machinist. I can build and repair things once the new world needs hands that know how.

Yeah, we still need to talk about that. I see a line of folding knives in my future.
